On May 7, 2019, the EPIC Affiliates Program hosted the first EPIC Innovator competition. The competition invited individuals and teams to submit ideas, projects, technology concepts, or prototypes that could be worthy of further exploration and funding. Nine ideas were submitted and the top five were selected to present in front of judges from Energy United, Framatome, Power Engineers, Siemens, SOS, and Ventureprise.

EPIC is excited to announce that Bhaskar Mitra won first place ($1,000 prize) for his pitch on “Real-Time Controller Hardware in the Loop for Grid Monitoring Operations Using Wavelet Transform”. Mitra is a 4th year Ph.D. student in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Second Place winner was Casey Nichols for “In-conduit Current Energy Converter with Magnetic Transmission”

Third Place winners were Jeffrey Bubar & Justin Fox for “Oxyhydrogen As a Means of Energy Storage”

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all who participated. A special thank you to our judges who had the difficult task of selecting from the many fantastic ideas!
